"DROSTE ON"

Role: Writer, Director, and Co-Producer

DROSTE ON is a psychological science-fiction short film about a couple who discover a computer simulation capable of revealing the future. When they witness a disturbing prediction, their conflicting beliefs about free will and determinism threaten to tear their relationship apart.

Pre-production

As the film’s writer, director, and co-producer, I developed the screenplay through multiple iterations, incorporating feedback from fellow writers and artists. I led casting, rehearsals, and character discussions with the actors, while creating storyboards, shot lists, and production schedules. I collaborated closely with the cinematographer to establish the film’s visual style, scout locations, and plan lighting and camera setups. Using Polycam, I 3D-scanned the filming location and imported it into Unreal Engine to previsualize compositions and camera movements. I also managed budgeting, equipment rentals, and production logistics.

Previsualization in Unreal Engine:

Production

During filming, I directed actors' performances and collaborated closely with the cinematographer and crew to bring the story to life. I navigated unexpected challenges, including equipment issues, crew cancellations, creative differences, and adjustments to performances on set. I made real-time creative and logistical decisions to keep production moving while maintaining the film’s artistic vision.

Post-production

I am currently editing the film in Adobe Premiere Pro and color grading in DaVinci Resolve. I am also collaborating with a composer to develop the film’s original score and planning visual effects to enhance its science-fiction elements. Throughout post-production, I am refining the pacing, atmosphere, and storytelling to create a cohesive cinematic experience.
